On December 10, 2005, nine days after his birthday, Pryor suffered a heart attack in Encino, California. He was taken to a local hospital after his wife's attempts to resuscitate him failed. He was pronounced dead at 7:58 am PST. He was 65 years old. His widow Jennifer was quoted as saying, "At the end, there was a smile on his face."[26] He was cremated and his ashes were given to family.

@Madams1977 Aye he tried to get clean even stated it on stage one night and was getting heckled for it. (lokk under Richard Pryor vs Auidence around 2 min into it. He was a good man. We all have our problems some are more detrimental than others. I flet for him the night he tired to tell the crowd he didntt want o drink-n-drug anymore. To take the time to do Seeame street tells how much he loved kids. He had a great personality.

This is just beautiful. Richard had a softness 2 him under that hard personal he portrayed. Richard was so BRILLIANT and TALENTED. He also did a segment on the show saying the ABC'S. He was so SEXY just by sayin the ABC's. If that's not SEXY,I don't know what is. RIP Richard Pryor
