I remember my papa teaching me and my siblings this little song way, way back in the 1950s. It was appropriate for a French-Canadian family living in southern New England to learn this kind of sweet music.
Papa would play his guitar and try to get me and my 11 siblings to sing harmony and melody. I remember Papa would sing this a little faster...with a swing and sway kind of beat.
Thank you very much for posting beautiful, elegant love songs like this. It gives me a lump in my throat.

@Beejjjjjj But he said that "he wish that his french were good enough". If he could speak french fluently and with true accent, then if would not fit the lyric of the song.

My grand father used to sing this song all the time to my grand mother. He passed away a year ago and i missed him so much. It's a beautiful song ... Brings back a lot of memories ...
