as far as animals with nice coats not on the "extinction list" how about tigers, lions, bears, umm beavers, fox, wolf, dog, cat, human, 90% of all species in less than 100 years, by humans, dude you are out of your mind. humans kill a lot of things, its true, but not that many.

If you work in this area I feel pity for whoever has to work with you. You are just plain wrong here.

As far as humans making 90$% of all animal species extinct, you need to supply a link to some source if you are going to make claims like that, the worst case scenarios that I have seen is 25-50% in the next 100 years, and that's if we don't do anything.

It would be like if they did a test on you and found that you were in fact not a human, but a separate species of mammal. You are not a new animal and we didn't just discover you, we just know more about you now.

And I agree humans do make many things go extinct but simply hiding animals from humans is not going to solve that, we have to protect the animal and the animals habitat.

shao: your reasoning astounds me, A: people have known about this cat for 50+ years, they just didn't know it was a different species than the one on the mainland B:Now that people know what sort of valuable and awesome animals are in these forests they can use that knowledge to help convince people to save this area instead of chop it down and C: if ignorance is bliss you must be very happy.
