Mulch is a huge garden timesaver because it helps prevent weeds, reduces the need to water, moderates soil temperatures, adds organic matter to the soil as it breaks down and helps your garden look tidy.

This one 5-minute video saved this mulch novice a lot more reading time. The presentation was easy to follow and full of good advice. Had I not watched it, I wouldn't have watered before mulching. Two other how-to websites did not mention this step, which the video says is crucial. Also good to know how long, on average, it takes various types of mulch to break down.
