www.MediaSanctuary.org Documentation of the lively question and answer with James Howard Kunstler after his talk at The Sanctuary for Independent Media on April 14, 2011. Kunstler is one of the world's loudest critics of suburban sprawl and the impending fossil fuel shortage. His nonfiction series on suburban sprawl, new urbanism and the end of the cheap oil era includes: The Geography of Nowhere, The City in Mind: Notes on the Urban Condition, Home from Nowhere and The Long Emergency. His latest novel, World Made By Hand, is a fictional account of the issues raised in The Long Emergency. He is also the author of eight other novels.
It'd be a great question and answer session if he didn't get so many arrogant tweakers asking him some stuff they heard off some dude on a website. Almost feel sorry for Kuntsler.

I appreciated his definition of money though it doesn't appear that James has put much thought into this critical area. The monetary accounting formula~ privately issued debt + interest based currency is the proximate source for much of the ugliness James decries. This formula is a key part in the compulsive and unthinking "growth" economy we see sprawling around us as money is given greater importance then the real wealth it supposedly represents.

Thumbs up for Jim though I believe his World Made by Hand novels are shortsighted. We would not regress as he depicts.
