Description: The flag of the People's Republic of Benin had a solid green background with a red star on the top left. The flag was inspired by the ruling party, the People's Revolutionary Party of Benin, which there flag had a green star and red background. It was said that the star represents "peoples unity, unity of all revolutionary forces in overwhelming of inner and outer enemy and making a new, revolutionary and socialist land of Benin".
