Mike 'Spike' Edwards at the Pageant of Power, demonstrating Chris Wilson's historic Suzuki XR 23 as ridden by Pat Hennen and Barry Sheene. 680cc square four Suzuki. Built to conform to the formula F1 regulations banning 500cc and 750cc in the late 1970s.

Is that Brian Morrison at the end? the guy with the long hair? Remember seeing him at Knockhill riding GPZ 900's in the big production class when I was a kid. Made a name for himself in Endurance racing as I remember. Great clip and very interesting machine. Cheers!

formula 1 was for 1000cc 4/stroke or 500cc 2/stroke useing any road based engine , you could use any chassis parts or frame you liked , and you could tune the engine as long as you did not alter the crankcase, I used to race a PM kawasaki in formula 1 and that was the rule around 79/80 I think the 680 rg was brought in to use in the formula 750 class replaceing the TR750 triples,,,,,, you have a piece of history there thanks,,,,,100%
