@stap0510 I'm pro Euro/West in general but your comment is correct. Too many Euro's insisting we have to compete with the USA when we are all part of the same capitalist block. Europe has every right to have it's own GPS system though. Obviously it suits America for Europe to have to rely on their GPS system but we are not stupid at the end of the day :)
As for a natonalism/super state...we have no choice if we want to compete with the likes of China in the next 50 years I'm afraid.

Galileo is equiped with lasers to destroy GPS and GLONASS and Beidou. Sorry folks :)

Europhiles like to talk about how the EU is about coorporation between nations.
BUT....just by looking at the comments here alone you see that is really about rivalry against other super powers to make the EU a super state.
A nice bureaucratic top-down organisation with a low democratic level that is mostly about spending other peoples money.
Nationalism elevated to european level. Us against them, that's what show here.

Galileo is not to complement the current GPS constellation, like many europhiles like to say, but as a direct competitor.
European newspeak, you gotta love it.

Galileo is about independency but over all about cost reductions, estimated around 90 billions euros. Independecy and efficiency in short.

Launch contracts for the first 4 satellites have been signed last week. Now nothing can stop Galileo. Independence for Europe FTW!!!
