100 YEARS PARTIDO INDEPENDIENTES DE COLOR OF CUBA

On August 7 of the year 1908 the PARTIDO INDEPENDIENTES DE COLOR was formed in Havana, Cuba. This was the first political party in the Western Hemisphere created and led by descendents of Africans, such as EVARISTO ESTENOZ, PEDRO IVONET, EUGENE LACOSTE, and others. It was also the first political organization in Cuba with a program based on the principles of PEACE EQUALITY AND SOCIAL PROGRESS. It also stood for erasing racism in that caribbean nation.The party was bloodly massacred in May 1912. Arsenio Rodriguez reminds us that all the leaders of the independence, democracy and freedom struggles should be adored like Marti.

Everybody, especially in the western hemisphere should know about the Little Race War of 1912 as they called it. That must have been absolutely horrific for the brothers and sisters all throughout Cuba that spring and summer. Peace to Evaristo Estenoz, Pedro Ivonnet, La Coste, Gregorio Surin and all those men and women and children.
