PC Spinners

These are horizontal fan blades that I cut and bend from aluminum beverage cans (soda, beer, etc..). They have a dent in the center and are balanced on the tip of a pin on top of the computer monitor. The warm air rising from the monitor causes the PC Spinner to turn continuously, as if driven by a tiny invisible motor. My fellow employees in the office cubicle world think they're great fun. I've probably made more than a hundred of them and they're all over the building.
What do you think of them? They're kinda cool!

The spinners are, basically, horizontal propellers balanced on the point of a pin. Warm air rising vertically from the monitor vents causes the propeller to spin. If they are placed where air is moving vertically downward, like under a ceiling fan or air conditioning duct, they will spin the opposite direction.

doyou have to use copper wire for it or can you use something else

No. You can use any relatively stiff material for the vertical support. I recently acquired a matchbox size toy helicopter and replaced the toy rotor blade with one of my spinners. It now sits on top of my monitor and the blade turns like its motor is running.
