A new track from a new band "Jo Djosie Nene". The band plays a fusion of Senegalese and English music. This track was recorded in rehearsal in Toubacouta, Senegal in October 2008. More information and more music is available on MyPlace.
2/2 - The track is a charming mix of swirling melody and chilling chorus of vocal talents that give off a sweet sense of loneliness, whilst being adequately infused with plenty of rhythm that will, no doubt, have every listener in a trance-like state. Sublime.
1/2 - Jo Djosie Nene are a group whose music bridges the gap between Western melody and African beat. Following the lonely acoustic guitar, the track quickly jumps into a barrage of drum beats as the lead singer's voice blends into the rhythm. After a tantalizing start, we are presented with a concoction of solo drum beats and eerie echos that appear to reflect the sorrow of losing a loved one. The poetic prose is given repetitively, working superbly well with the fusion of music.
