http://provideoschool.com - Figuring out how to video conference in multiple parties via Skype for a video podcast was not as straight forward as I originally thought. Here I'm being interviewed about my setup for doing live webcast/netcast/podcasts using multiple video skype participants. If you need help with doing a similar setup for yourself I will gladly help. I used Leo Laporte's TWIT video podcast as a template for what I wanted to accomplish.

  • Have you tried Camtwist? It's a must-have from ustream broadcasters...

  • @Modview Yes! CamTwist is what I use to get the live output from BoinxTV out to Ustream. It's a very useful little utility.

  • I don't think you'd actually need all that. I think you could do it all on one computer. You'd just need software like VMWare (not free) or VirtualBox (free) to run virtual operating systems within your operating system. Now I think you can run multiple VMs (Virtual Machines) at a time, but if not you could run a second VM within the first VM and so on. If this works then that would mean running all the simultaneous Skype videos your computer can handle all on 1 computer and 1 audio source.

  • @bwilleb it doesn't work like you think it should. sure you can do a second VM session, but the live switching software that I've grown to rely on takes a lot of processing resources so the addition of a new VM session puts a drag on it and makes it unreliable. In addition to this - you still have audio issues - you can no longer use a mixer to filter our the self-echo that the participants would hear back.

  • @bwilleb in theory - yeah it's a good idea but when you actually hook it up and try to make it work it's clear that it's a sloppy hack that just doesn't cut it.

  • What was the software?

  • @iMike360 it's BoinxTV
