The 1st Generation Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain Folding MounTain Bike (FMTB) is very mechanically reliable due to its solid foam inner tubes eliminating ANY possibility of having flat tires:

What tools that are required to tighten components and possibly mend chains can be carried inside the frame bag/carry pad under the seat. Another possible tool kit is the excellent belt pouch Bell Multi-Tool Kit--though its gray pouch needs to be dyed into a darker color. Wear under the Multi-Cam U.S. Army Combat Uniform (ACU) shirt on the trouser belt loops is handy.
Military Light Bicycle Infantry (LBI) History

With the high cost of fuel, militaries around the world will need to employ LBI in conjunction with light tracked tanks like M113 Gavins as the "mother ships" so large areas of terrain can be controlled and enemies defeated by dispersed and elusive infantry that are both sensors/shooters.

Here's an U.S. Army Command & General Staff College School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) report by Infantry officer, Major William Sutey on the need for cross-country MOBILITY (XCM) from M113 Gavin light tracked tanks to improve LIGHT INFANTRY FORCE mobility, protection and firepower. READ IT.

Both the FMTB and the light tanks can be electrically powered and charged using solar panels (eFMTBs and eM113 Gavins) further reducing fossil fuel logistics. The human being on a pedal bike is THE most efficient transportation combination on earth.
I might consider buying one of these to replace my current bike (too tall for me, completely lowered seat STILL too tall).
I'm a bit leery of using plastic spoke wheels, though. Are there any aluminum wheels available for this bike?

The Montague PARATROOPER is a great FMTB that folds even faster than the 1st Gen DaHon Mountain Gold this is based on. 2nd Gen DaHons are also great ATBs, too. ElectricCyclery offers an eMTB version of the PARATROOPER that's interesting especially if we can integrate flexible solar panels to it. Any aluminum wheels should work with either DaHons or Montagues...
