Texas State Senator Expresses Outrage at Spanish Testimony

Chris Harris (R-Arlington) spoke for many Americans when he interrupted the Spanish-language testimony of a citizen of 23 years against the Sanctuary Cities ban (SB9), to say it was "insulting" for the man not to speak English. This goes right to the heart of everything that is wrong with those who advocate for illegals and La Raza. The seperatism. The sense of entitlement. The contempt for our common language that prior immigrants always hurried to adopt. God bless you Sen. Harris for speaking for all of us!

DETAILS: During committee testimony this week in Austin, a Texas senator interrupted a Spanish speaker and telling him he should "be speaking in English" during a committee hearing.

Antolin Aguirre of the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition was testifying against Senate Bill 9 that would help crack down on illegal immigrants in Texas. Aguirre spoke through an interpreter even though he had been in the U.S. since 1988.

Two minutes into Antolin Aguirre's testimony, Sen. Chris Harris, a Republican from Arlington, interrupted asking Aguirre's interrupter, "Did I understand him correctly that he has been here since 1988?" Harris asked. "Why aren't you speaking in English then?"

Who gives a fuck if he doesn't speak English? He's a law-abiding citizen and pays his taxes just like any other citizen, so he doesn't have an obligation to speak English. He's not a burden on the U.S. In fact, his state and federal taxes are paying for the translator service offered in court. When English becomes the official language of the U.S., then you can criticize him. As long as a person isn't living off of the government(your taxes), you have no right to demand anything from them.
