Someone has probably already mentioned this, but in the problem it says nothing about the building being vertical and the grund horizontal so that they form a 90 degree angle... The problem is therefore unsolvable, unless you make this (unsupported) assumption.

extension ladders are never sold in odd foot increments, so it can only be 34 or 36 feet. In any case, you need to draw more rungs on the ladder as there are rungs every foot. :)
