its not an attack on smokers, the tax is an attack on the evil tobacco companies who profit off of people dieing from their deadly products

The government will tell us why they need more of our money, but sit em' in a room and ask em' where they wanna cut spending and they don't have an answer for you!

They're like the college girl with an out of control shopping habit who wants mom to pay her credit card debt, but has NO plans to stop buying $1,000 pairs of shoes!!

I don't wanna keep feeding these ass holes shoe money!!!

I rarely agree with Rush, but on this issue, I agree 100%. Destroying an artisan industry with excessive taxes on products only consumed by a small fraction of the population. Shall we also directly tax other items that people enjoy, such as chocolate, cupcakes, handmade leather goods and fountain pen ink? How about model trains and Legos, so parents can no longer afford to purchase those items for their children? This is a poorly crafted bill that punishes pipe/cigar hobbyists.

@kipptumor If the government is run by evil big business, then why are many corporations highly taxed and regulated? If they truly ran everything then there would be low taxes and low regulation so they could actually afford to produce things in the U.S.

And for those who say that both the right and the left vote for the increases, thats true. But the people lobbying for it are far left anti smoking fanatics. Just follow the money...

I totally understand cigarettes being taxed. They have hundreds of added chemicals and increased nicotine levels. Cigarettes are very highly dangerous. Cigars and pipe tobacco however does not have these added chemicals and increased nicotine levels. The nicotine levels in these tobaccos for pipes and cigars are controlled by their curing methods. I think Congress has suffered from the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND in not learning the factual differences in the types of tobaccos.
