Here are some quotes from the April 1961 LIFE article:
"....as throngs of refugees from Castro's Cuba who for 21 months have been pouring into Florida.
They are a strange, uneasy community: a sprinkling of
Batista's men, officers who helped Castro make his
revolution and became disillusioned, fishermen, financiers, models and entertainers. But the strongest
core among the exiles are the professional men, doctors
lawyers and teachers who found the strait jacket squeeze
of Castro's regime hardest to bear"
" These, with their wives and families, are uneasily perched
in Miami - dreaming of a return to a new and free Cuba
but forced to deal with the problems of staying alive,
perhaps indefinitely, in a foreign land. Many came with
only the clothes on their backs, no money at all. Most are
too proud to accept easily the help which, from the first,
local groups have offered. Schools have set up special
courses for professional men and employment centers.
Last December, the exiles got a big break. They became
elegible for special U.S. government aid, as refugees
from any country 'enslaved by communism'.
Now, as more and more of its sons, young husbands
and brothers sign up and slip off to training camp, the
refugee community allows itself a new luxury - betting
on what month they and liberty will again be back in Cuba"
( end of quote).

Goudie who was 'Miss Cuba of 1956' now does part-time
modeling for an agency in Miami." " Miss Cuba 1956
