    i got here from Wikipedia XD

    but... Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck was one of the best Generals i know to this day, he knew his terrain well and respected his soldiers and befriended with them. Also he promoted blacks as Generals which hardly anyone did.

    I am Polish and Von Lettow-Vorbeck is one of my fav generals, losing not even one battle... incredible, and everyone respected him... even I do...

    He was that, but then he had a bit of an unfair advantage. He made a surprising discovery--treat your native troops like human beings and they'll fight well for you. That is certainly more than his opponents-the Brits, French, Belgians and Portuguese ever learned!
