@MrAtrophy (cont) you do not come across as reasonable in the slightest! Furthermore it appears you even advocate the persecution of a people based on their belief! With that I'm finished talking with you - I forgive you for what you've said and I sincerely hope that you find God some day, but I do not wish to talk with you any more. That you have advocated the persecution of people says it all - maybe when you see why what you said is wrong we can talk... until then good day to you sir.
@MrAtrophy (cont) For a person who clearly considers himself intelligent, who is supposed to be happy to look at philosophical and theological concepts you have proven yourself to have barely any knowledge of theology and your logic is greatly wanting.
You struggle to discern semantics and you're not very good at understanding another person's argument.
@MrAtrophy (cont) It means that you advocate their unjustified imprisonment, you support their death even.
The statement you made 'christians should be persecuted' means that you support the Eritrean Governement when they detain Christians, purely on the basis of their belief, and lock them in shipping containers with little to no water, in crowded conditions, 50 people to a container.
Do you really support such cruelty and maltreatment?
@MrAtrophy (cont) Afterall I'm a Christian. I bet it makes little difference to you that I have committed you no wrong, that I was not responsible for the inquisition, the crusades, the colonial era?
I suggest that you consider carefully the statement you have made, it means that you are not only exceptionally illogical but that you advocate the breach of human rights, that you advocate harming innocent people who have come to find a faith in God and that you willingly wish them harm for it.
@MrAtrophy (cont) But it's already abundantly clear that you completely lack historical context in pretty much all of these discussions, you struggle to look at the finer points and this leads you to not only saying stupid things but also to making large errors.
Persecution is wrong full stop - nobody should be subjected to it, but this is a prime example of the cruelty of humanity. I suppose given your statement you would wish to persecute me?
@MrAtrophy And I'm sorry but anyone who says people should be persecuted is not only wrong in my point of view but needs help. Nobody should be persecuted, although I'm aware that it is likely to happen. Christians have been persecuted ever since the start of of Christianity. But equally I would say it was wrong for those of the past to have persecuted others. I also think you mistake Christianity as a whole for specific empires and the colonial powers that labelled themselves as 'Christian'
@SDWLLB " As for science, the church saved many books when the dark ages came around" while killing scientists trying to advance knowledge , the burning of the Alexandrian library was not an effort to save any books
@MrAtrophy (cont) if you wish we can replace the words concentration camp with death camp for the ones that I was referring to.
I would also point out that the bible does not say you can arbitrarily imprison people on a whim under your own prejudices - if anything it teaches you to overcome your prejudices. One need only look at Jesus' ministry to see this. Again your point is exceptionally flawed!
@SDWLLB , your definition of forgiveness does not refute my point , but agrees with it. when the penalty for sin is going to hell , when you can go to heaven and be forgiven as long as you remain faithful , i do not see how this is not immorality .
