A Christmas Marriage Proposal

On December 24, 2009, as part of a family tradition, I hid a special gift on our Christmas tree.

As so the legend goes, "the Christmas Pickle" is to be the last ornament hung on the tree on Christmas Eve. The first child to find the Christmas Pickle gets an extra gift from Saint Nicholas.

This year, her family and mine joined together to celebrate a very special holiday and tradition. I told our families that we had to put names in a hat because there were too many of us to crowd around the tree, but little did they all know that every name in the hat was Stefanie's.

Even though it took her way too long to find the Christmas Pickle, I eventually got around to asking Stefanie if she would spend the rest of her life with me, happily ever after and, she said "Yes!"

She is the greatest Christmas present I have ever received. She brought magic into my heart and meaning back into my life. I feel like the luckiest man in the world and can't wait for every new day with her.

Stefanie, I love you with all my heart. Thank you for loving me.
