This is a sequel to my other EAS getting cut off video. This time, the station WTVS 56 Detroit is being featured in this video. The other video featured WFUM (now WCMZ) TV 28 which was an out of area station of mine that I picked up on an analog signal, which would explain why that video had such bad quality. This Alert happened during the June 23, 2010 Tornado event that the southern part of Southeast Michigan had. These storms missed me just about a half hour south of me, so I was spared. Enjoy the video.

  • Hey: I'm in the UP. I had 7 tornado warnings in one day. Also, We lived near the spotter that was sending out the warnings, and the first 5 warnings would say the following: "The national weather service in (BLANK)" and it would end right there. The entire broadcasting software just crashed. the last 2 were during power surges. We were watching the alert and then the power surge went through, and seen it reboot.

  • @jonvincent12 Wow that's strange. Would have been cool if you were able to record that. 7 Tornado warnings though? That is a lot especially in the UP

  • woah...much like your other video, only this time the warning was much longer before getting cut off, huh?

  • @bigfalcor Yes. This alert did last longer BUT it cut out before it could say the effected citys and it didnt feature the ending alert tone.

  • Ah, nothin like the EAS credits! xD

  • @MendotaTech It is an encoder, not a decoder.

  • @MendotaTech Regardless of whether some idiot did it or not, it's incredibly stupid that it happened in the middle of a tornado outbreak. You should also take into account that Canadian TV stations from across the river in Windsor, Ontario offered no warnings at all.

  • @MIKON8ERISBACK sometimes, the location of the Decoder does not pertain to the location of the affected area. Also, take into account that all EAS cancellation has to be recorded and submitted to the FCC.

  • This would be the second time their Endec screwed something up.

  • @MendotaTech Some dumbass could have pushed the button by accident, or on purpose. Most people with functioning brains don't consider tornado warnings to be "unnecessary".

  • It gets cut off because the SAGE ENDEC EAS Decoder has an abort button so that unnecessary warnings do not get broadcasted... Sometimes those decoders have their small glitches...

  • I remember this, I was driving home with my two friends after a day of fishing in tecumseh mi and my friend's truck stalled on the side of the road while this brute of a storm went over us. Was probably the best day of the summer ever haha!
