Linus & Lucy by Vince Guaraldi, performed at an April 2007 student recital.
This was my first effort at putting together and heading up a jazz trio. We had a great time, but the recital definitely didn't go as I'd hoped it would or as I'd planned it! Share my experience with me.
Sorry about the one cut in the video.
Comments & ratings would be very much appreciated!
First: Hire an acoustic bass player. Preferably not your mom's ex-dealer.
Second: Learn to improvise over the changes on the "B" sections. That's what Guaraldi did. He didn't play a transcription of his first recording.
Third: If you ARE going to play a transcription, be sure that the bassist and drummer also have proper transcriptions of the same recording. It is obvious that they do not.
And Finally: Dress appropriately. You're there to play piano, not to shoot up the school cafeteria.
