  • At the time...Safeway did not have their trucks equipped with engine brakes. Hence....lots of smoked brakes!!

  • @srhoyt1 Another grocery truck went off the edge a few weeks ago. My wife brought home a huge sack of potatoes. Too bad they were spoiled from the cold.

  • i've driven a truck for 20 years. never smoked a brake, never went off the road. most companies only give lip service to safety, their main objective is getting the load delivered on time. to me timely delivery is way down on my priority list. somewhere behind taking a shower. not dieing is number one.

  • I've been down Wolf Creek Pass, it ain't bad you just need to respect it. There's far worse hills in thus country.

  • city market used to run across there i think but that woulda been a few years ago

  • I drove a truck for almost 10 years and lived in Colorado for 4 of those years. I remember the first time I had to cross Wolf Creek. I was TERRIFIED!! Lucky for me 1) It was during the summer and 2) I had already had the (mis)fortune of having smoked a set of brakes several years before. On La VIta pass, no less!! Moral of the story...set the jake on full and come down in the bottom half of the transmission. Sorry about the 'taters!!! :-)

  • Hey Bud, Thanks for the vid response, good history vid here

  • good vid

  • I've ran that pass in a truck and the run where the scenic overlook is will definately pucker up even the toughest trucker's hind end.
