Summer Rain (Jemi One Shot) - Part 1/2
Joe's POV
The waves licked at my toes as I walked along the beach. The ocean breeze came from the water up to the shore. The sun shined through the clouds that were slowly engulfing it. I dragged my feet through the sand, letting it fill between my toes and cover my feet entirely. I took a deep breath, letting the salty air fill my lungs. Aw, I love the beach.
I kept walking until I finally found an empty spot of sand. I sat down and stretched out on the sand. I laid back and closed my eyes, enjoying the soft breeze. I lay like that for a few minutes, until I felt a shadow come over me.
"Whoever you are, you're blocking my sun." I opened my eyes to see who it was. "Oh, hey Demi." She stared down at me skeptically.
"Joe, what are you doing?"
"Well, I was enjoying the sun until your big self blocked it." She kicked my foot lightly. "Hey, what was that for?"
"I'm not big!" She was annoyed, maybe I should have thought through my words better.
"I know you're not." I sat up and shook my head to get the sand out of my hair.
"Hey, watch it. I don't feel like eating sand today." Demi sat down beside me Indian style, resting her elbows on her knees and her face in her hands. "Why are you sitting in the sand and not on a blanket?"
"Because," I mirrored how Demi was sitting. "I like how the sand feels between my toes." She whacked my left arm playfully knocking my elbow off my knee and making me fall forward slightly. She giggled at my fumble then looked up at the sky. I chuckled at her squinting then followed her gaze.
"Do you think it's gonna rain?" The clouds had almost completely covered the sun and the rest of the sky.
"It might. I kind of hope that it does actually, I love the rain." I looked back at Demi, her gaze was still on the sky.
"I do too. It's just, I don't want it to rain while we're here. It'll make the sand stick together and it won't be fun to sit on anymore." She looked at me with a pouty face. I smiled at her, she looked adorable.
"Well, then maybe we should go get an umbrella." I started to get up but she grabbed my arm and pulled me back down.
"We don't have to yet. It's still nice out. Let's stay here and enjoy it before it rains."
"Oh, alright." I sat down next to her and stretched my legs out in front of me. She scooted towards me and rested her head on my left shoulder. We sat like that for almost an hour talking and watching the ocean, but it eventually started to rain so we got up and ran up to the picnic shelter that sat where the beach met parking lot. We found an empty picnic table and sat down on opposite sides. I sat looking at Demi with my hands stretched out across the table. She was playing with my fingers and tracing my palms. I took a deep breath and blew right at Demi's face.
"Hey," she said as she wiped her bangs away out of her face and behind her right ear. She looked up into my eyes, smiled, and blew back at me. I closed my eyes as the burst of air came right at my face. I kept my eyes closed for a few seconds, after awhile I felt Demi let go of my hands. When I opened them, she was standing ten feet away at the edge of the shelter. I got up and walked over toward her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my chin on her left shoulder. She reached her left hand back and stroked her fingers through my hair. I turned my head and kissed her softly on the cheek.
"Don't just love the rain?" Demi asked suddenly. She turned around to face me.
"Yes," I replied as I took both her hands. "I do." She leaned in a kissed me. We held it for a few seconds and then broke apart.
"Come on," she said while taking my right hand in her left and pulling me out into the rain. We walked out into the rain on the beach a ways, then she took my left hand and put in it on her waist. She set her right hand on my shoulder. We waltzed around in the rain and I twirled her around. The whole time she kept her eyes locked on mine. We slowed to a soft step and Demi rested her head against my chest. I tilted my head and lightly rested it on top of hers. I took a deep breath and inhaled the scent of the summer rain. I couldn't help thinking about how perfect this moment was, and I softly kissed Demi on top of her head. Still, we were completely soaked by now so I took Demi's hand and pulled her over to my car.
"Did you drive here?" I asked her, secretly hoping she'd say no so that I could drive her home.
"Nope," she replied. I silently cheered inside my head. "I took a bus."
"Well then, I shall drive you home." I said while walking over to the passenger side and opening the door for her. She smiled at me.
"You're such a gentleman." She pecked me on the cheek and climbed into the car. I shut her door, ran over to the driver's side, and climbed in. I pulled out of my parking spot and was about to pull out of the parking lot all together when we were suddenly ambushed by paparazzi.
