Produced by National Geographic, in conjunction with the U.S. Chamber and airing on PBS April 16th 2008. Based on the best-seller Illicit, by Moisés Naím, this program exposes the criminal networks behind the manufacture and sale of illicit goods - from fake purses and DVDs to counterfeit pharmaceuticals - that are having a devastating impact on our economy, jobs, and consumer health and safety.
I loved this documentary. they kept taking it down on different sources online so I found it for pretty cheap on ebay. alot cheaper than the NG site

@Palfium66 Very easy to say it will solve the problem, but it's also very easy for me to say any statistic you give me for crime, i could find others that counteract that. It's the nature of statistics and the people behind them. I think it would also cause a lot of problems too, and i for one do not want to pay tax's to fund people who decide to get themselves addicted to drugs. We could also just execute all drug addicts to cut demand, that would work too. (not serious of course)

So typical of National Geo to show only the scary threats, but not once mention the only long-term practical solution to the entire problem:
To take out the most profitable industry the criminals have; illegal drugs, by re-legalising them. How? Just like they have done in Switzerland; where hardcore addicts can get heroin to take in a hospital clinic.
The result? After 2 years most addicts are using less drugs, employed & not committing crime & some cities like Zurich has 80% crime reduction.
