When we first rescued buff, she had a few issues that we had to take care of, just like any other shelter dog. One of them was kennel cough. We gave her medicine, but for a few weeks afterwards she still had this cough. It eventually cleared up, but as new pet owners we were scared.

  • My dog has kennel cough (black lab too) he caught it from another dog at a dog park :/ hopefully taking him to the vet tomorrow.

  • cute puppy! glad you adopted!!! Just FYI: when a dog has kennel cough they are very contagious...it is an airborne disease. so, anywhere the coughing dog goes they take the germs with them. this is why dogs can catch it in dog parks, dog class, etc. just as often as they get it at a kennel or vets office. It usually takes 7-14 days after contact to see symptoms & symptoms can last 3 or more weeks. they can be contagious for another 7-14 days after that as well.
