Korean plans for the World Cup include sampling canines. This is being met with stiff resistance from animal rights groups.

Up to 2 million canines are eaten in Korea each year. Now a football offensive is planned: "Our Federation will hold sampling parties near World Cup venues," says a member of the dog dealers association. But with international animal rights groups set to intensify their protests during the world cup, will the fiercest battle be off the pitch not on it?

This is because animal rights groups refuse to allow dogs to be included into the list of animals for food. It makes it impossible to regulate the killing of dogs in Korea because they are neither pets nor food

God the ignorance in these comments are overwhelming. Tell me, did dogs eveolve just to be our pets or are the ones that decided at one point that they should be pets?

Dogs are not special from any other animal in the world. In fact, pigs, which we like to eat so much, are smarter than dogs and already are pets in many countries.

Since we are the ones that decided dogs should be pets, we are forcing out view upon others when we say "It is immoral to eat dogs"

But nature did not make dogs to be eaten. Dogs are closely related to wolves and are therefore mostly carnivorous. Eating dogs is not the same as eating herbivorous cows, sheep or horse.
