  • Nice filming. The color and dynamic range look good, considering how gray and overcast the weather appears to be.

  • @octaneping thankyou yes it was cloudy, check my other scarifier vid

  • Please help an ignorant on-looker. I don't have a clue as to what this operation is trying to do. Anyone want to teach me? It looks very interesting.

  • @smacman68 After a area is felled off ( cut down) you are left with alot of brash all over the site, in the old days we use to burn but now is seems its not good for enviorment so in order to make it easier to re-plant this machine is employed to go over the site to make it better to plant, it also mixes the soils together making it better for the young trees and also after care were trees that die can be replaced by following the rows the machine has left

  • @sixstringfretter All it's doing is turning up the ground to expose the rich mineral soil, which is buried under sticks and leaves and compost and duff that cover the forest floor. Trees are then planted by hand, one by one.

  • I know it's just me, but this looks as if it's just moving things around a bit. I would think going over it with a mulcher and chopping it all up into tiny chuncks, including the stumps, and then planting new trees would be better. But, again, just my uninformed opinion. It must work out ok, or they wouldn't do it, right?

  • @beyondupnorth I've planted in Saskatchewan and you can not hit a single rock for over a month and a half. That's just with a little shovel though, not a mean ass trencher...

  • @ndif I'm one of the people who comes in and plants thousands of trees by hand after this machine comes through and tears up the ground, so I get to see first hand all the cute little forest critters that these behemoths mow down. Mostly tons of frogs and toads and garter snakes but there of course you also have your bunnies and baby deer, various birds and their nests, and anything else to slow to get away, porcupines are a good example.

Thats industry for ya. Gotta make that toilet paper.

  • here in tenn usa i seen the use what looked like a giant paddle wheel pulled by a D6 cat it broke cut and mashed stumps logs and pulled up soil very well

  • I have to say the coolest things on this video are the tracks on those tires

  • doesnt that just look like fun

  • Am I the only one who sees an earth worm Holocaust happening?
