Steam locomotives in East Germany and Austria in the summer of 1976. Sadly I have lost the itinery of my trip, but places visitted from memory were Vordenburg, Gmund, Dresden, Magdeburg, and the Hartz Mountains.

Thanks for the comment. It was a never to be repeated experience for an 18 yo, as I realised that if I continued I wouldn't get a girlfriend in the UK, as it wasn't considered as cool! Five kids, and one divorce down the line, I came across the slides when clearing out the attic. I do have some b&w pix of Saalfield, which I recall as being awesome,nd will post one day.Njoyed your vid of the NYMR..will go there one day.Am only 4 miles from the Bodmin & Wenford so dont have to go far for steam.

VERY Well Made Video I have been to the now old DDR 3 times and rode some now Muselm steam and the HSB Narrow gauge in Wernegerode

You were most lucky to have been there and done this. Excellent record of a never to be repeated experience. Whilst you were doing this I was shooting the former S.P. G.S. 4 "Daylight" 4-8-4 loco in the silly red, white and blue "Freedom Train colors" running from Fresno, California to Los Angeles. I'll trade you the experiences.
