Here's a brief look at an edition of the short-lived revival of the Scene at Five.

The legendary chemistry between the late Ron Stone and Doug Johnson is on full display as the duo are joined by Ron Regan and Catherine Smith (Harwood) throughout the clip. The reaction from the studio crew to the jokes and good-natured ribbing are also priceless!

  • another great clip. i wonder how the heck you find such old stuff. i'm still looking high and low for the pbs (houston channel 8) sign-off segment that used to air in the early 80s, possibly the late 70s. i remember seeing the tranquility park fountains and joggers in memorial park in the segments.

  • @seanhoutx I never really know what I'm going to find on some of these tapes, so maybe it's out there and yet to be discovered around here... Wouldn't say there's a great chance, but maybe.

  • When did KPRC unveil their downtown news set ?

  • @sboudreaux27 February or March of 1988 since it's the same set.

  • The best two broadcasters to ever share a show. Along with Bruce Bryant directing this show set the standard for what I love about broadcasting. Speaking "with" folks, not "at" them.

  • Boy, we have not had ANYTHING like this since 1989 in december

  • We would have snow and a tied record low of 9 degree's in Dec of 1989. Lots of busted pipes from that freeze.
