Opeth - The Leper Affinity guitar cover

Video of me playing Leper Affinity as an exam in school. A few mistakes, the solo is awful, but deal with it ; ) I also made the backing track a little slower than the original song to compensate with my nerves!

you did great! you played a lot of the song quite differently from what I do, still you made it sound good. the solo wasn't awful, just a bit more different than the original. norsk you say?:)

Where did you get those tabs btw? I have some guitar-pro ones but the solo just doesn't sound right, and you played it well different so I'm guessing yours is right!! Sounds amazing anyway man!!

I had som guitar pro-tabs for guiding.. None of the tabs you can get off the internet are 100 % accurate, so you have to listen closely to what they play.. trust your ear rather than trust the tab.. Oh, and the solo was done only by ear, so it's full of mistakes.. couldn't find a good tab for the solo anywhere

Don't use tabs, dude. They're wrong, almost always. You're in music school, build your ear up. You're sliding down from the wrong fret in the first riff- move that up a half step. The second riff is totally wrong, it's a mix of both channels that doesn't actually exist- listen closely and hear the two distinct guitar parts. You're not picking the clean part right, you're leaving out the G string. The last two chords in the riff at 8:12 are wrong also. C-G-B (on 5th string), A#-D-A (6th).

Haha I blow raspberries when I cock up too, seriously tho Opeth song structures and the fact they last generally more than 7 minutes make them a very hard band to cover. Well done.

@finsmi I've been playing for about 7 months and I'm really starting to hate tabs for bands like Opeth but also my inexperienced ear. I can't hear much. Got any tips for training the ear? It's just so hard to hear past the 2+ layers of guitar playing different parts and all the distortion and Mikael growling like a demon :(
