swarr quartet

1. Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; Weep oer the erring one, lift up the fallen, Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save. * Refrain: Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
2. Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting, Waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently; He will forgive if they only believe.
3. Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
4. Rescue the perishing, duty demands it; Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide; Back to the narrow way patiently win them; Tell the poor wandrer a Savior has died.

  • The first time I herd it we were playing it in thrid band. I'm now in second band and we haven't played many christain songs. :(

  • Last time I heard this, was when the late John Klinger played itr on the theatre organ at Bobby's lakeside resort in Birchwood- we pulled out all the stops and tried all accessories. Fun.

  • Thanks! I love this song. Especially verse 3. And I love hearing it sung simply, acapella. These guys did a great job. And it suits and white shirts, no less!! Blessings.

  • We still sing those good old hymns every sunday morning, and in one of the churches they don't even use music and it sounds so wonderful and lift's up your spirit to the most High God.

  • its sad, in my church quartets are now unheard of, its replaced by electric guitars, drums, what is lacking are disco lights to make it complete

  • Amen

  • Blessed song!
