I'm Shelton Johnson, and I'm a ranger for the National Park Service. When I think of volunteers, I think of faces lit up with excitement, folks working at visitor centers, working on trails, doing their utmost to take care of the place that they feel they are part-owners of. So volunteering is a great way to share a little bit of yourself with the park that you care about. So think about what you want to do in your National Park, and volunteer! • I am a volunteer at Minuteman National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts. This is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Sharing my knowledge of the battle at the North Bridge and the Battle Road with visitors from around the country and around th world. I highly recommend it.

  • As an NPS Park Ranger and former volunteer, I salute this message. Volunteers encapsulate the passion and excitement for our nation's treasures and pass this encapsulated enthusiasm on to park visitors. It is an honor and a privilege to be a member of the National Park Service family.
