Jim Morrison Alta Cienega Motel Room 32

This video could use music, but if you are a big enough Doors fan to sit through a 6 minute vid, I figured you could crank your own chosen music. ;)

Jim lived in this room in the late 1960s. It is referenced in The Celebration of the Lizard and in Wilderness.

If you have a copy, or can find one online, watch Jim's movie: HWY: An American Pastoral. At the 44:57 mark of this movie there is a quick scene in the room.

  • do you just see it or can you rent it for a whole day

  • @Liyahlovesmommy You can rent it

  • Guys plz tell me....why Jim live in this place?

He got a lot money so why he rented this room? Sry for my English btw :(.

  • @deglomerant It was probably nicer when he was actually staying there...maybe someone else can give you a better answer, but from what I understand, some of his favorite bars were in the neighborhood- Barney's Beanery and the Palms (now a lesbian bar)...and the Doors offices were across the street (now Mexico restaurant). Pam's boutique Themis was also close by.

  • It would be better without all the crap all over the wall. They should've just left it like it was when Jim was staying there.

  • I would LOVE to go and rent that for the day, and just read the walls!!! That is so cool...Thanks for the tour!!!

  • @deglomerant The Doors office and studio for LA Woman sessions are right across the street. Very convenient location for him.

  • @elvishlady21 You're probably right about Jim wanting it this way.

  • @Endisnigh666 That is not correct, actually. He lived there in 1969, at which time they were HUGE at at the height of their fame.

  • @DrRonPaul I usually despise vandalism of historic places, but I actually think a lot of it here gives the place character. I think it manages to look artistic and that Jim would have approved. However, the nonsense like "suck my cock" is dumb and completely ruins it. Definitely like the lyrics and photographs, though.

  • @LAwomanPhotography I think it was mostly convenience (like you said) and that he didn't care much for luxury. Even when he was living there it was still a pretty crap place, he payed $10 a night.

  • @deglomerant He stayed there before they had a lot of money. When they were the house band at the whiskey a go go.

  • @deglomerant From what I've read about Morrison, money didn't mean that much to him. He carried no wallet; he refused to go solo (which cost him millions); and he refused to endorse corporations.

Jim Morrison was an individual who never subscribed to the American Dream. He lived according to his own dreams, his own rules, his own values.

  • such a shame all his words have been covered by tags and writings of everyone who has stepped in the room :( Such it pity is wasnt' preserved in same way
