*Truss explodes just after 8:50*

University of Massachusetts Amherst, BCT 540 Class Term Project I: Spanning Member Design, Professor: Dr. Peggi Clouston

Team 2 (Corey Chalmers, Kira Disén, Sean Hastings, Evan Levesque, Dave Mogielnicki) designed and built a truss with sandwiched bottom member and base reinforcements.

At just over 12k of force, the truss failed in shear at the righthand glue joint, most likely due to uneven glue application. The top chords began to crush before the truss failed, which speaks to the strength of the glue and efficiency of load transference within this design.
