glad2teach please answer this question! 12x36 --> so add 2 to 36 to get 38, then 38x10 is 380. Now, 380 plus the product of the last 2 digits (12) gives you 392. But 392 is 40 less then the actual answer (432). I can't figure out why this question doesn't work, the tens digit is 40 less. (Same thing with 11x21) I found that this rule works with a question within the same tens value between the two numbers, ex. 15x18 or 22x28. But when the tens digit is different the rules seems to break down
