Punching the bore after shooting is good advice. You might want to do that at the range after going thru 200 rounds. He advises to clean it --field strip cleaning -- after 2 or 3 trips to the range. I prefer to do it after every visit, but there's probably nothing wrong with cleaning less often.
My best advice for new shooters: get an experienced shooter to accompany you to the range and walk you thru everything: transporting, loading, shooting, handling -- everything.

I tend to agree.
A little more courtesy at the counter might mean the big box stores with lower prices don't get the lions' share of the sales.
