hi thnks for the reply ,i owned three vw 's 1958,1965and 1970 the 58 had semiphore indicators and the engine was 1070 cc with orignal 6volts ,the parts where hard to get .the 65 and 70 ran very well for a long time with me the seventy had a very nice cylinder atlernations the block was of 1500 cc and the pistons and cylinders where of 1300 cc with 1300cc head ..and a 1200cc carburator ,was very economical on fuel .

was there a fuel leakage?? why did u put the clothe under the carburator

@najam68 Well spotted, I did suffer from a fuel leak on the day of the test, the fuel came out from the carburettor spindle. I've since had the carburettor fully stripped and rebuilt with all new seals, it came back good as new and runs perfectly and free from leaks.
