Churchill River - Part 1: Otter Rapids, Robertson Falls, Mountain Lake

Carla Hale & Karlene Gibson paddle the Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan from Otter Rapids north of Missinipe, through Stanley Mission, to Nistowiak Falls at Iskwatikan Lake. Churchill River is a system of lakes, rapids, rivers, and falls forming the Voyageur Highway... a main transportation route of indigenous peoples and early fur traders. Sask. documented canoe route #2 may be navigated in either downstream or upstream directions, portaging or lining along shores through areas of fast water.

 I miss the north.Your video brought back a lot of memories.I've spent a lot of time in that area,Between Otter rapids and Maclennen lake.I've backpacked around Stoney Rapids and north of Uranium City.I live in Texas now and sure miss the north.Thank you for the view.

@Ketaden Thank you for your comments. It is beautiful country up there. The following summer, we had also paddled the MacLennan Lakes... 16 portages, very challenging, but well worth the effort to see it first hand. Haven't got around to posting the pics yet... but still hope to get to it. Best wishes!

Post the pics,wow 16 portages.I hate to say this but when we went north of Uranium city we loaded the canoes till the water was about two inches from top.You paddle very slow and nobody move lol.I'll have to post some pictures.I love the north,the smell of the air is incredibleLoved the video again :).Take care.
