For over three years, Shannon Durig has been experiencing the thrill of a lifetime playing Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray. Her ride is about to come to end on April 13 -- but we spoke to the bubbly star on the evening she celebrated her 1000th performance about working with old family friend George Wendt (who plays her mother, Edna), the advice she got from her Tony Award-winning predecessor Marissa Jaret Winokur, meeting Bruce Springsteen backstage, and what advice she has for the next actress lucky enough to play Tracy.

its mainly because actors can't help from losing weight whilst in a broadway or westend production. they are performing everyday, sometimes twice in 1 day- which can be very gruelling and you have to be physically fit to be able to perform in the westend/broadway. iv done 2 weeks working with the touring production of Evita in the UK and i lost half a stone from just running up and the stairs about 5 times every night!!
