Dokhtarak-e Joulideh (The Disheveled Girl) is a very difficult piece original written by Colonel Ali-Naghi Vaziri for Tar in D Chahargah. Pejman Azarmina performs this piece on an A-tuned santur in D Chahargah.

  • @TheNickparsa Thanks a lot. Have you seen my new albums (Persian Nostalgia and Rebellious Solitude) released just recently. I hope you like them too. They are available on CD Baby and iTunes.

  • that was awesome! you played it on chahar-gah- D, I reckon, as opposed to routine C chahar gah; I wonder when you tune the third line of strings as La in this case, how do you translate the written scores sheet to la tuned instrument? when you see the score "SOL " on your sheet, do you hit on the strings of third kharak (which now make a La sound rather than sol)?

  • Thank you, that's the whole purpose of having a la-tuned santur. You don't need to transpose anything. You play as usual and it sound 1 tone higher. When I see sol on the score, I hit the third kharak (not the forth one), but it sounds la. It's specially handy when you collaborate with violin. For violin, normal shur is played from la, but for santur from sol. That's why the score is written on shur la for violin and in shur sol for santur, but santur plays it with a la-tuned instrument.

  • WOW beautifull performance

  • besyar zeba menavazi ey mard, good luck to you.

  • You are right. It sounds more familiar and richer compared to mine. First of all, they are all extraordinary musicians with great technique. Second they are performing it with three instruments, the presence of Tar makes such a difference in making it sound more original.

  • farghe ejraye shoma ba "bahman rajabi khabazi aghayi dokhtarak julideh vaziri" chie? Oon be nazar shnatar miad. Be nazar oon dorost tare, mishe rahnemayim konid.
