"Frankie and Johnnie" Frank Crumit's 1927 version of the American folk song. Some say the song has been around since 1830's others say no. The first published version was 1904. The version here was published 1925. Even Frank Crumit's first recording in 1921 is different. There are over 250 recordings of "Frankie and Johnny".
The illustration is by Thomas Hart Benton taken from his 1935 mural for the state capitol of Missouri.
