Royalty returns to the village of La Jolla. Natives were the first surfers, as documented in ancient, and not so ancient times. Hawaii and Peru (continental) natives hit the waves regularly as a favorite past time or just to have fun! It is not hard to believe, the original Kumeyaay of La Jolla also surfed and played in the waves. So we are here and we give thanks for the youth.
In particular, Native Women were said to be the original surfers and the young girls proved this point as they fearlessly handled the waves and road all the way to shore within minutes of getting into the water. Brett, Ron, Ray and Marc assisted as the girls did not give up and you can see Mercedes showing her moments of glory. Ashaa was the first to get up, followed by Shanoa. They were naturals and even the Ashaa got a small bump to the eye, she returned in royal fashion.
Meanwhile, youth were playing volleyball and groups took turns paddling out to the sea caves on kayak.
The morning was so alive with beauty. The water was clear, the waves were perfect for learning and it all felt so good. Youth saw abundance of fish, rays, sharks (non-threatening) and dolphins as they continued to guide us through the week. Music: "This is the way" Lady Passion
