I had a 1965 series 2 swb land rover in MG red (in factory con) and it was an absolute joy to be in! I love the pure simple honesty of a land rover. They do what they are meant to do with no gimicky gadgets! The old ones (60s and before) are the best 4x4s in existence.

I found out how to get Defenders (including diesel models that get x2 the fuel economy) available in America!!! Step 1: Register to vote. Step 2: Vote for Ron Paul who would then deregulate the market, thereby getting rid of regulation requirements on airbags. Step 3: Once he deregulated the markets, go on down to your local Land Rover dealership and say, "I'd like to buy a Defender please."

@ollieskins same here..plus tippy son-of-a- bitches. I unloaded mine and purchased a Hummer H1. It is a lot cheaper to repair, less headaches, and can literally go anywhere.

People that say these are the best cars ever don't know what the hell they are talking about. I own one & I love it, but they have so many design flaws it's ridiculous. The damn thing is constantly breaking down & needing repair. Out of the 10+ cars I've owner it is by far the least reliable. Cool, yes. Great shape & looks, yes. Best car ever- hell no!

Anyone who calls the Defender 'old' 'dated' or the likes obviously know nothing of this legend and the essense of this vehicle. It's quite possibly one of the best vehicles ever made such that it stands the test of time in not just its ability but its appeal.
