For as long as I knew him, my grandfather refused to speak about his experiences during World War II. Only towards the end of his life did he agree to be interviewed about how he survived the Nazi Holocaust. I'm able to understand his Yiddish-inflected English, but I highly doubt that my children will, so I subtitled the text.
I am so glad you posted this. He is a true hero to have survived what he went through. No one today could have done what he has done. You are very lucky to call him DAD.
Thank you for the interview. Very interesting and informative.

reminds me of my ofather and mother pity I didnt get them to talk about their war on film.
a truely awful time my dad was doing convoys at 14-15 my mother was shot at as a child and saw lots of people being killed .
you would think we would have had enough of war to learn to stop it .
I like your grandfather he seems a good man who lived through awful times

unbelievable. At least, he ended up in Canada, a very nice country as far as I know., where being a Jew is nothing bad.
