@cooldude8555 The gravity hammer doesn't have to be activated; it can be used as a blunt-force weapon. Perhaps the Brute didn't think the ODSTs required any more effort or investment, and thus didn't activate the hammer.

Regarding the ODST aiming the Jackhammer Rocket Launcher directly AT the Brute, rather than at the ground: it was point-blank range against one of the largest, least agile species in the Covenant, he had a second shot to use, if needed, and most importantly....he DIDN'T miss.

@cooldude8555 These were ODSTs, not Spartans; they can't absorb nearly as much damage, as their armor is not even comparable to the Mjolnir series, and their shielding is a fraction of that generated by Mjolnir. An ODST will die from damage a Spartan could shrug off.

So far as the Spiker, it seems far more realistic that there would be some delay on its detonation, as there is with all the other grenades in the HALO series.

why wasnt the BR triple burst? and since when did the spiker do so much damage? why didnt he just wait a couple of seconds for his health to come back.. he would have been fine. why did it take so long for that spiker grenade to blow? this isnt call of duty you cant throw nades back. why didnt the gravity hammer have any gravity? that guys a BK everyone knows to shoot the floor with rockets and not directly. he could have missed!
