"Sunrise, Sunset" from musical "Fiddler on the Roof"
Composer: Jerry Bock
Poem: Sheldon Harnick

Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older,
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset,
Swiftly flow the days,
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers,
Blossoming even as they gaze...

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset!
Swiftly fly the years,
One season following another,
Laden with happiness and tears...

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset,
Swiftly flow the days,
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers,
Blossoming even as they gaze...

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset!
Swiftly fly the years,
One season following another,
Laden with happiness and tears...

  • @Makrania yes they were Azeri but his grandfather had a Chechyen origin and Muslim was fluent in his native Azerbaijani as much as Russian.

  • greattttttttttttttt

  • @tivoglio119 Were both of Muslim Magomaev's parents Azeri by nationality? Did he speak Russian better than Azeri?

  • Reluctantly, I agree that the tempo is slow. I believe that he wanted to emphasize the sorrow in the song. He is one of the greatest baritones, ever. Муслим Магометович Магомаев! He sadly passed away just a bit over two years ago. He will be fondly remembered!

  • My favorite song. I love Muslim Magomaev!

  • @lovemypiano111 i agree on both counts, his English is great for someone whose language is Russian, like in my case. And from the start had the same thought, that it was very slow, dragged too much but has a nice voice.

  • @grazyna6788 Ja tez Grazynko, mam DVD i czesto go ogladam, moi Dziadkowie przezywali takie pogromy w Rosji skad pochodze. Widzialam tez caly musical z Topolem na zywo w San Franciscio, byl niezapomniany. Pozdrawiam.

  • @Azerisafety Russia is also the country of my ancestors and i was born there,

lived later in Poland but now English is my language in California...watched the whole musical live withTopol in San Francisco, it's been my favorite ever since especialy that my ancestors are also Jewish, it has a special meaning to me, my grandparents lived through the terrible pogroms like people here in the village.

Let there be only Love and Peace in the world!

  • PIĘKNE....Musical"Skrzypek na Dachu" należy do klasyki*****

Oglądałam kilka razy i nie poprzestanę na tym

  • And pretty decent English at that... I am impressed. But much too slow for my taste. He was quite young then. Must be about 20 years ago or more?
