I love a lot of punk and a lot of metal.

I do not love the idiots who act like punk or metal is sacrosanct, and that those who don't like it are contemptable. Those people can fuck off.

MUSICAL TASTE IS SUBJECTIVE. So stop being objectively dickish about it.

  • I don't think the Murphys glorify violence at all, nor do they try and define what's punk and what's not. Or have I just misunderstood you. Most of their songs are about working class culture, life in Boston, Ireland, etc.

  • @PositiveTension505 Read the lyrics to 'Wicked Sensitive Crew' and tell me they don't have a exclusive definition of punk.

  • Music fascism and elitism=good. Music taste is not subjective. Some music is crap and some music is crap. Good=early Slayer shit=MCR FACT. Elitism is good, if it was not for elitism all music would be pop music.

  • @SAEuropeanPatriot See, my capitalist pigginess has to disagree. Supply and demand! That's why Slayer are so underground. Everyone hates them, and therefore they are shit.

  • I totally agree, though it tends to bother me more when people treat John Mayer like some musical god. Then turn around and denounce any kind of popular or mainstream music.

Basically I hate it whenever people use their music as an excuse to treat others like shit.

PS- I love the way you say "punk"! It sounds like "poonk!" :P:P

  • @exxxys When americans say 'punk' they say 'pahnk' : )

  • @LatumWay I very nearly brought up that very same song! But I do believe that song is a tongue in cheek dig at Anti-Flag who once had a bit of a bitch fit about the Dropkicks cos they in someway promoted the "support our troops" thing, and made them out to be pro-war ultra-facists. I don't think the song was a dig at pop-punk in general.

  • Metal Hammer is a joke. Much like all forms of elitists.

  • @jmmypaddy :) - thats the way

  • @2Koranteng i was giving an example of how reverse snobbery from metal fans can be rampent. i moved on from them. life has too much to offer to be consumed by associating with people who i dislike

  • @jmmypaddy well they obvs aren't very good mates to you then. I have friends who aren't necessarily into the same things as me but I can still get on with em xD Maybe your "friends" need to be open minded and not look down on people who are different to them. It also applies to people who don't listen to metal either. Generally, if theyre like that, ignore em, find new mates and don't worry about it too much man :D

  • @FantasticHermitCrab yeh you make a good point man - yeh I'm guilty of finding a couple of new bands but surprisingly I actually do like them and sometimes I usually come across songs which I eventually like but I wouldn't jump on the whole metal band wagon and look for all dark and heavy bands lool cos that misses the point as you say.
