Steeleye Span は、今から30年前、私がトラッドの世界に踏み入れるきっかけとなったバンド。
私の、お気に入りなのです。
しかし、正直に言いますが、イギリスのトラッドの最高峰は、このバンドではありません
Fairprt Convention こそが、そうなのです。
非常に悔しいのですが、格が違いすぎます。
というより、Steeleye Span そのものが、Fairprt Convention から分派して、結成されたのでした。

actually this tune only became popular in ireland and was re-branded as the rockey road to dublin because of an english vauderville performer in the mid-19th century. This tune though is scottish and dates from the 1720s.

I agree this is Scottish, but Scottish and Irish music is basically linked thru the various movements of people between the two countries during history ~ strong links. Also France and Scotland had a very strong alliance in the past (esp against the english!), hence this song. I was trying to say that some American folk had scottish irish and english influences. Cheers
