@ToolzWork600 New York accents are just as eclectic as Philly, but there are common features across them all. It might be harder to pick up on when you're around it all the time.
I grew up in Philly and I didn't even recognize the accent as distinct at all, but once I moved away for a while (not even that far, maybe 70 miles) and came back, I realized everyone in my high school had a Philly accent to some extent.

In northeast ohio they talk kind of like that. If you went to school in central or southern ohio they sound kind of midwestern, and maybe a little southern even

@ToolzWork600 Just like I said previously ethnicity always plays a part and even socioeconomic classes. Most ppl in the acting industry don't feel like taking the time to study the Philly accent so they'll just do what would seem like a softer NYer accent. Where I work I have ppl from D.C., Baltimore, and NYC all of which sounds different but it's not like we can't understand each other because some of our phonetics are the still the same with many words.

this video is not accurate at all!! those people sound like new yorkers this must be south philly italians

@omfgCantGetaUsername with an exception to S. Philly, because of the italian influence they may have similar characteristics as new yorkers with the same heritage. its worldly known the distinct new yorker, southern, texas even boston accent as for philly it not as popular and its to diverse. I just wish they stop making videos in or about the south philly italian, Rocky fake NY accent! u want to know the real philly accent it will take a lil more time then sitting in city view or in pats steaks

@omfgCantGetaUsername the new york accent is very well identifiable the philadelphia accent varies by what section of the city your in, south Philly and people from north philly/uptown have different dialects, word and phrases. it also depends on wether or not you are talking to a black or white person, it varies also within class structures where as different slangs and neighborhood saying come in. lived in Philly my whole life and 1 thing im sure about is the difference between NY and Philly
